How to choose a pressure washer for home use?
Start by identifying your single heaviest regular task rather than shopping by the highest PSI number available. If you’re mainly washing a car, patio furniture, and light siding, an electric unit in the 1,700–2,300 PSI range is quieter, lighter, and needs virtually no maintenance. If you regularly deal with a large driveway or serious concrete buildup, a gas machine in the 2,700–3,400 PSI range will clean meaningfully faster. Beyond PSI, check GPM, since higher flow rates rinse and clean faster, not just hit harder. Look for a multi-nozzle or variable-pressure setup so one machine can safely handle both delicate and tough surfaces, an onboard detergent tank for convenience, and a hose of at least 25 feet. Finally, weigh portability and storage space realistically, since the “best” machine is the one you’ll actually use consistently.
