Can you power wash bricks?

Yes, brick is one of the more forgiving surfaces for pressure washing, generally tolerating pressures in the 2,500–3,000 PSI range without issue on the brick itself. The real caution is around the mortar joints between bricks, especially on older homes — mortar erodes more easily than the brick, and sustained high pressure at close range can wear it down prematurely, leading to gaps or structural issues over time. Use a wide-angle nozzle (25° or wider), keep the wand moving steadily rather than lingering in one spot, and hold it at a reasonable distance rather than pressing close to the joints. For older or historic brick, it’s worth testing an inconspicuous area first, or considering a gentler soft-wash approach if the mortar shows visible wear, cracking, or crumbling before you start.
