Dawn’s strong degreasing properties do function as an effective surfactant, helping water spread evenly and lift oil-based grime from concrete. The main concern is Dawn’s tendency to create thick, heavy suds, which can clog a pressure washer’s detergent injection system or reduce suction efficiency if used at full strength through the machine’s built-in tank. If you do use it, dilute it heavily and flush the system with clean water afterward to prevent residue buildup inside internal components. A safer approach is applying diluted Dawn with a separate pump sprayer before pressure washing, letting it dwell briefly, then rinsing with the pressure washer alone, which gets the degreasing benefit without risking the machine’s injection system.
