Is 3000 PSI too strong to wash a car?
Yes — 3,000 PSI is generally too strong for direct car washing and is a common cause of accidental paint and trim damage. At that pressure, even a brief, close pass with the wrong nozzle can strip wax, force water past window and door seals, or create fine “flat spot” damage in clear coat that isn’t visible until months later. The safe range for vehicles is 1,200–1,900 PSI using a wide 40° nozzle held 12–18 inches from the surface. If your only machine is rated at 3,000 PSI, it can still be used on a car safely, but only with the widest nozzle setting, more distance than feels necessary, and a light touch — never a pinpoint tip.
