Is Dawn dish soap good for pressure washing?
Dawn works reasonably well as an occasional cleaning solution for pressure washing, particularly for cutting through light grease and everyday grime, but it’s not the ideal long-term choice for most machines. Its thick sudsing formula can clog a pressure washer’s detergent injection system over repeated use, and it’s not specifically formulated to rinse cleanly the way dedicated pressure-washer detergents are. If you do use it, dilute it significantly and flush the system with clean water afterward to prevent internal buildup. A safer middle ground is applying diluted Dawn through a separate pump sprayer or foam cannon rather than the machine’s built-in tank, which avoids running it through the pump entirely. For regular, ongoing use, a detergent specifically labeled for pressure washers remains the manufacturer-recommended, lower-risk choice.
